On Saturday-5-August the Bogota Community Garden dedicated their expansion. This took place at the Garden, located at the corner of River Rd and W.Ft. Lee. Rd in Bogota. Opened in 2016 the garden has added four more planting beds, for a total of 20. Added five feet of space to the west side of the location, which has allowed for a tool shed, compost area and a bench. There is also a new sign facing River Rd. which allows passersby to know about the garden.
Before the ribbon cutting ceremony to officially open the expansion, a number of people spoke about the garden. Bogota Beautiful Chairperson Amaru Bustamante thanked everyone who attended the opening , and all the people who volunteered their time and effort in making the Community Garden possible. Next Joe Gallagher, of the Garden Committee thanked Bogota Beautiful for their working in helping to start the garden and Councilwoman Daniele Fede & the Mayor and Council for the use of the land other support from many of the Boroughs dept. Finally Councilwoman Fede complemented both Bogota Beautiful, and the Garden Committee for making a new and positive area to show off the Borough of Bogota to the rest of New Jersey.
After the ribbon cutting Bogota Beautiful Chairperson Bustamante presented gifts to Councilwomen Fede, and Mary Ellen Murphy for all the member of the Council and local Government. Mr Bustamante also presented gift to the members of the Garden Committee. After ceremony the public was invited to tour the garden, enjoy the refreshment, and listen to music from Erin and John Wohlberg.
