An arctic cold front will pass through the region this afternoon
into the early evening hours. This front will be accompanied by a
line of snow showers and/or snow squalls that will last around 30
minutes to 1 hour. Brief whiteout conditions with a quick coating
to around an inch of snow is possible in any of the heavier snow
squalls. Motorists should plan for hazardous travel during the
evening commute.
Today
Scattered snow showers, mainly between 1:00p and 4:00p. Increasing clouds, with a high near 30. Wind chill values between 5 and 15. Breezy, with a west wind 9 to 14 mph increasing to 15 to 20 mph in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 47 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
Tonight
Mostly clear, with a low around 3. Wind chill values between -5 and -15.
Breezy, with a west wind 17 to 22 mph decreasing to 11 to 16 mph after midnight. 
Winds could gust as high as 37 mph.
Thursday
Sunny and cold, with a high near 15. Wind chill values between -5 and -15. 
West wind 11 to 15 mph.
Thursday Night
Mostly clear, with a low around 6. Wind chill values between -5 and zero
West wind 6 to 11 mph.
Friday
Mostly sunny, with a high near 21. West wind around 6 mph.


WIND ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 1 PM THIS AFTERNOON TO 7 PM EST
THIS EVENING...

The National Weather Service in Upton has issued a Wind Advisory,
which is in effect from 1 PM this afternoon to 7 PM EST this
evening.

* WINDS...West 15 to 30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph.

* TIMING...This afternoon into this evening.

* IMPACTS...Strong winds may blow down limbs, trees, and power
  lines. Scattered power outages are expected.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Wind Advisory is issued when sustained winds of 31 to 39 mph,
or gusts of 46 to 57 mph, are expected or occurring. Winds this
strong can make driving difficult, especially for high profile
vehicles, in open areas, and on elevated roads and bridges. Use
extra caution.

...WIND CHILL ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM MIDNIGHT TONIGHT TO 10 AM
EST THURSDAY...

* WHAT...Very cold wind chills expected. Wind chills as low as
  15 below zero expected.

* WHERE...Portions of northeast New Jersey, southern Connecticut
  and southeast New York.

* WHEN...From midnight tonight to 10 AM EST Thursday.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...The cold wind chills could cause frostbite
  on exposed skin if precautions are not taken.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Wind Chill Advisory means that cold air and the wind will
combine to create low wind chills. Frostbite and hypothermia can
occur if precautions are not taken. Make sure you wear a hat and
gloves.
