On Friday-3-January the basketball teams from Bogota played those from Ridgefield Park.The lady Bucs traveled to Park Ridge to play the Lady Owls. Bogota would suffer a 54-16 loss. They now have a record of 1-4. They next play on Saturday-4-January against Leonia. This will be played on the Jay Mahoney Court at Speary Gym, with the tip-off scheduled for 10:00a
The Men's team hosted the Owls on the Jay Mahoney Court at Speary Gym. The game would start with Bogota scoring the first basket. The Owls would then go on a 9-2 Point run and have a lead for much of the first quater. After eight minutes Park Ridge would have a 16-21 lead. The second quater saw the owls expand their advantage to nine points. Then three point scoring by Vincent Ducut and Ashanti Caviness would allow Bogota to tie the game. The teams traded leads and have multiple ties until Park Ridge's Eva Burns would hit a Three Point Basket , with time running out to allow the Owls to take a 34-33 lead into the locker room. After the restart Bogota would score 12 straight Points to take a lead they would have for the rest of the game. The third quarter was halted for 10 minutes by an false alarm. Players and Spectators remained in the Gym until the Bogota Police gave an all clear. The break would not slow the Bucs scoring and they went on to post a 76-64 win. Evan Meberg was top scorer for Bogota with 19 Points. The Owl's Evan Burns had game highs with 23 Points including 7 Three point Baskets. Vincent Ducut led Bogota with 4 Three Point Baskets.
Bogota's record is now 5-1. They next play on Monday-6-January against Midland Park. This will be played on the Jay Mahoney Court at Speary Gym, with the tip-off scheduled for 7:00p
