  Updates and changes to the New Jersey Primary and School Board elections for 2020. On Thursday-9-April New Jersey Governor  Phil Murphy signed Executive Order 120 moving the June primary election from  Tuesday-2-June-2020 to Tuesday-7-July 2020. In addition, any election scheduled between Wednesday-13-May and Tuesday-7-July 2020 is postponed and rescheduled to Tuesday-7-July 2020. All statutory deadlines for primary election, except for deadlines that occur prior to Saturday-11 April-2020, for a primary election must be calculated using the July 7, 2020. The petition for independent candidates for the general election is 4:00 p.m. Tuesday-7-July 2020.
  Bogota holds their Municipal Elections, and Board of Educations on General Election day.  This is scheduled to take place on Tuesday-3-November-2020.  The Township of Teaneck, and the Village of Ridgefield Park will both hold their Municipal Elections on Tuesday-12-May-2020. This year both those elections will be by mail in ballot only. Ballots are scheduled to be sent to all registered votes starting on Monday-13-April. Ballots must be mailed and postmarked on, or before Monday-13-April-2020 in order to be counted.

  As a result of changing the April school board elections to May, on Tuesday-7-April New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy signed Executive Order 116, extending certain statutory deadlines for school districts with elections postponed until May. The executive order extends the statutory time period for the municipal governing bodies to review defeated school budgets. The deadline to submit a certified tax levy to the county board of taxation is extended to Tuesday-9-June 2020.
   In addition, the executive order extended the deadline to give non-tenured teaching, staff members a written offer of a contract for employment for next year or notice that such employment will not be offered, from  Friday-15-May  to Friday-5-June. Any non-tenured teaching staff must notify the school board in writing on or before  Friday-22-June-2020 if they accept the employment offer.
 Finally, the order extends the terms of Board of Education members whose terms are due to expire at the first organization meeting following the April election to the first organization meeting following the Tuesday-12-May-2020 election. The terms of Board of Education members elected at the  Tuesday-12-May-2020 election will run as though they had taken office at the first organization meeting following the April election.
This order took effect on  Tuesday-7-April -2020.
  Bogota, Ridgefield Park, and Teaneck will hold their Board of Education Elections on Tuesday-3-November-2020.
