  The National Weather Services has issued the following weather alert for the Northern New Jersey and New York area for Tuesday-21-April-2020 until at least 2:00a Wednesday-22-April:

WEDNESDAY...
-FREEZE WARNING IN EFFECT FROM MIDNIGHT TONIGHT TO 9 AM EDT
WEDNESDAY.
This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for southern Connecticut,
northeast New Jersey and southeast New York.
-DAY ONE...Today and tonight.

   Wind Advisory.
   Freeze Warning.
A line of showers and thunderstorms is expected to cross the region
this afternoon. Scattered strong to severe thunderstorms are possible
within this line, with strong to damaging winds the primary threat.

-WIND ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 5:00p THIS AFTERNOON TO
2:00a  WEDNESDAY...
-FREEZE WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM MIDNIGHT TONIGHT TO 9:00a
EDT WEDNESDAY...

-WHAT...For the Wind Advisory, northwest winds 10 to 20 mph with
  gusts up to 50 mph expected. For the Freeze Warning, sub-
  freezing temperatures as low as 26 expected.
- WHERE...Portions of northeast New Jersey, southern Connecticut
  and southeast New York.
- WHEN...For the Wind Advisory, from 5:00p this afternoon to 2:00a
  EDT Wednesday. For the Freeze Warning, from midnight tonight to
  9:00a EDT Wednesday.

- IMPACTS...Gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects.
  Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may
  result. Frost and freeze conditions will kill crops, other
  sensitive vegetation and possibly damage unprotected outdoor
  plumbing.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Use extra caution when driving, especially if operating a high
profile vehicle. Secure outdoor objects.

Take steps now to protect tender plants from the cold. To prevent
freezing and possible bursting of outdoor water pipes they should
be wrapped, drained, or allowed to drip slowly. Those that have
in-ground sprinkler systems should drain them and cover above-
ground pipes to protect them from freezing.
