At the start of the Holiday Season crews from the Bogota Department of Public works changed the autumn decorations with Christmas Wreaths. As this was happening workers also added the latest series of banners that recognized those Veterans who served in the Armed Forces and have lived in Bogota. Each banner has the name and photo of the person being honored, the branch of the Military, years of service, and which conflict there were a part of. An image of the medals awarded, with the insignia of the branch they served in. Any service personnel who were killed in action will have a badge in place of the branch.
This second group has 6 banners are hung along E. Main St from the Lt. Albert Graf bridge to Palisade Ave. They are:
-Joseph Labriola Jr. US. Army,
- Dennis Carlson US Army,
- Thomas Healy Jr. US Marine Corp.,
- Bernard Sweeney US Navy,
- Nunzio Parente US Army,
- Nicholas Labriola US Army,
Submissions for additional banners are being excepted by contacting the Borough Clerk at 201-342-1736 ext. 235. Or at clerk@bogotaonline.org
Information needed is the Veterans Name. Branch of the Military, Eras, or War served in. Date of Service and any medals awarded. A photo and a copy of their DD-214 (if available) should also be submitted.
