On Thursday-11-December the Bogota High School Music Department held their Winter Concert for 2025. The evening began with the Concert Band on stage under the Direction of Mr. David Abraham.
Their show consisted of four selections. The first was “Once Upon a December” and “One Summer’s Day.”
During the songs, a number of musicians had a chance to perform solo.
This was followed by a melody of songs from How to Train Your Dragon. This featured Mr. Devin Colon Montanez singing a solo at Centre Stage. Their final number was “Carol of the Bells,” this had both the Concert Band on Stage, and the Concert Choir standing in the back of the house to sing their part. The affect was to let the Audience experience the music in surround sound.
After a brief intermission, the Concert Choir came on stage, under the direction of Mr. Michael Prachthauser. They open their part with “ Where Are You Christmas.” Seven singers stepped forward to sing a solo measure or two. They were. Ms. Annabella Riccardi. Ms. Chelsea Pena, Ms. Elias Gonzalez, Mr. Eli Grogory, Mr. Louis Reyers, Mr. Joseph Miller, and Tsering Lama.
Next came “The Seal Lullaby” and finishing with “Veni, Veni Emmanuel” This featured soloist Ms. Tsering Lama and Ms. Raquel Camejo.
The Concert Choir was accompanied by Ms. Harmony Chau on Piano.
The Purple Notes then sang a Choral Suite from the movie Frozen, and ended with “Jingle Bell Rock”
The last performance was by the Bogota Jazz Band. Their set included “Can You Dig It,” “Rockin Merry Christmas,” “ Santa Claus is Coming to Town” and “ Think.” Each song featured a number of soloist standing up and playing.
After the end of the show, with the house lights on, the Jazz Band had an unprompted encore of “Blue Skies” to let the attendees leave the Auditorium with more music to hear.
The Fine Arts Department next events are the Spring Musical of "Into the Woods" on Friday and Saturday 6 & 7 March 2026. The Spring Concert on Thursday-14-May 2026.
