On Saturday-6-December Mr.
Edward James Rode passed away at the age of 85. Mr. Rode is well known with his
photography about the Borough of Bogota. This includes the featuring of highlights
for the Bogota Volunteer Fire Department, and the Bogota Emergency Services
Youth Academy. As well as the emergency services in the Borough.
He moved to Bogota in 1967 with his Wife Ms. Janet Hamiga after his four
years of service in the United States Marine Corp.
Trained as a Cabinet Maker Mr. Rode would
create photo frame in the shape of the Maltese Cross, which was presented to
the outgoing Chief of the Fire Dept. during their Chiefs Elections meetings each
December.
Within the frame, he added
a photo collage of the Chief’s past year.
Mr. Rode also worked for the Port Authority of
New York & New Jersey and was part of the searching teams looking for victims
of the Sept 11 attacks. This earned him an Award of Excellence for
“extraordinary level of service, effort and accomplishment during in or in the
aftermath of the attack”
Mr. Rode was also named the Bergen County
Volunteer of the Year in 1993 and was honoured by the Borough on 22-April 1993,
naming it as Edward Rode Day.
Viewing will be held at Petrik Funeral Home
at 140 Palisade Ave. Bogota. One will be Friday-12-December from 2:00p to 4:00p.
and again from 7:00p to 9:00p. Funeral Services will be on Saturday-13-December
starting at 9:30a. With the Interment at St. Joseph Cemetery in Hackensack, NJ
to follow.
