On Tuesday-16-June, the Bogota Board of Education held their final meeting for the 2025-26 school year. During his Superintendent's reports Mr. Damian Kennedy acknowledged a number of people. The first was Ms. Ximena Vargas for serving as the Student Representative for the school year. Superintendent Kennedy, along with Board President Mr. Jose Chavez, presented Ms. Vargas a copy of the resolution that honored her being the Student Representative.
Then Superintendent Kennedy listed some of the achievements from this past year. This included opening the Bogota Sports Complex and CTE Building. Refurbishing of the High School Auditorium and Media Centre. The Gym at Bixby School. Along with upgrading the security and electrical systems of all school buildings. He continued in saying members of the Senior Class had been accepted to 128 Higher Education schools with 7 Athletic Scholarships. With a total of 14 million dollars being awarded in with scholarships and grants to the class of 2026.

Superintendent Kennedy then presented plaques
to Ms. Mariana Garcia and Ms. Shaylie Tzep for earning their Associate Degree
from Bergen Community College during the
school year.
This was followed by honoring members of the school system who will retire at the end of the school year. They are:
-Ms. Diana Baranelo for 25 years as a Special Education Teacher.
-Ms. Lorri Nichols for 25 years of an Elementary School Teacher.
-Mr. Shkelqim Ametllari after 12 years as a Custodian for the district.
Then to announce the Teachers of the year for:
- Bixby School Ms. Nicole Schiavello, she was introduced by her son Anthony.
- Steen School Ms. Dana Zebrowski
- Middle School Ms. Jean Haase
- High School Ms. Shannon Atempa
After a short break, the Trustees voted on the Consent Agenda. All resolutions were passed by unanimous vote. Items of note were:
-To accept a donation educational material for the Career Technical Building.
-To accept the resignation of Physics Teacher Mr. David Gamarra
-To accept the resignation of Music Teacher Mr. Michael Prachthauser.
-To approval the appointment of:
- Raffaele Accetta as a custodial
- Stephen Palmer as a Health Sciences Teacher
- Nazier Navarro as a Guidance Counselor at the Middle School
- April Roccisano as an Elementary Special Education Teacher
- Stephanie Ceccon as an Elementary Special Education
- Sarah Spagnola as an Elementary Special Education Teacher
- Melanie Lekaj as a Mathematics Teacher
- Steven Wasco as a Music Teacher
- Mr. Adam Tonner as Head Football Coach
- Ms. Alicia Lavelle at Head Woman's Basketball Coach
- Joint Transportation Agreement with the Maywood Board of Education
The next Board of Education Meeting is scheduled for Tuesday-25 August at 7:00p in the High School Cafeteria on the second floor of 2 Henry Luthin Pl. and online.
