This Week Events

    Some events happening in and around Bogota for the week starting 25- May

Monday-25-May
Bogota, NJ

Will be Memorial Day The following will be closed:
All Schools of the Bogota Board of Education. St.Joseph's School, Trinity School, and Bogart School. The Bogota Public Library will be closed. Bogota Borough Hall will be closed for business. There will be no Trash collection  for those who have regularly schedule Monday pick-up. The Thursday Pick-up will proceed as scheduled.

- The Bogota Fire Dept. , Rescue Squad, and First Aid Squad.will have their annual inspection in front of Borough Hall starting at 9:00p 
- The Bogota Volunteer Fire Dept. will hold their remembrance ceremony  starting at 10:00a at the service memorial in Borough Hall Park.
- The Bogota VFW, American Legion and the Borough of Bogota will hold their Memorial Day Service starting at 11:00a. This will take place in front of Borough Hall located at 375 Larch Ave Bogota, NJ This event is free and opened to the Public.
- The Bogota Memorial Day Parade will start at Palisades Ave & Cedar St in Bogota. This will kick off at 2:00p The Parade will travel North on Palisade to E. Main St. It will turn left onto E. Main St and cross over the  1st Lt. Albert Graf Bridge to Elm Ave. It will make a right turn onto Elm ave and travel north to W. Grove St. It will turn Left onto W. Grove to Larch Ave. It will turn Left onto Larch Ave and travel South to Bogota Borough Hall  and will end after passing by the reviewing stand. 
 In past year active duty military personnel  on leave in New York for Fleet week have joined the parade. No active  duty personnel will be able to travel to Bogota and join in this year ceremonies. 








 The Bogota Girls scouts working with the Knight of Columbus from Bogota are holding a food drive for St. Joseph's food pantry during the Memorial Day Parade. They will collecting food items as they march in the parade. They will be accepting non-perishable food items as well as paper products including toilet paper, tissues, paper towels and other toiletries item to donate to the St. Joseph's food bank to help those in need during the Summer months. 

The Bogota Police have announced several road closures  for Memorial Day Activities.  
- Starting at 9:00a to 12:00 noon Larch Ave  from W. Board St to South St. will be closed for remembrance ceremonies.
- Starting at 1:45p Palisades Ave  from Fairview Ave to E. Main St will be closed. There will be limited access on all cross st. to Palisades Ave. 
- E. Main St from Palisades Ave to W. Main and Elm Ave will be closed
- Elm Ave from W. Main St to  W.Grove St. will be closed
-  W.Grove St from Elm Ave to Larch Ave will be closed.
-Larch Ave from W. Grove st to W.Main St will be closed. There will be limited access to All cross sts and W. Board St until the parade has passed those locations.





Wednesday-27- May
Bogota

   First concert performance of the Steen School String section will take place in the Steen Gymnasium starting at 7:00p




Thursday-28- May
Bogota

     The Steen Hawk band will perform it's Spring Concert starting at 7:00p. This will be held in the Gymnasium located off Orchard Terrace Bogota, NJ

It's Movie Nite at the Bogota Library.                                            
Paddington Bear
Thursday, May 28th at 6PM
The Friends of the Bogota Library will be selling snacks and water for $1.00 each. All proceeds fund library programs and new materials.



 Saturday-30- May

 The Bogota Police Emergency Service Youth Academy   has announced the new date for their annual  fundraiser benefit.  This was originally scheduled for earlier in may but had to be delayed. The new date is Saturday -30- May . Processes from this event will good to support for Class 05 in July of 2015. Doors will open at 7:00p and the event will run until 10:00p  This will be at the Bogota VFW Main Hall located at 240 Leonia Ave Bogota, NJ. Tickets are now available costing $35 for Adults and $15 for youths. Tickets will be available at the door for $40 for Adults & $20 for youths.   This will feature a Buffet dinner including refreshments. Staff and officials from the Bogota Police Emergency Service Youth Academy will be on hand to talk to Graduate Cadets, and will be available to answer any question Student , or Parents may have about class 05. 
   Also at this event a preliminary list of  Cadets for Class 05 will be announced.

Sunday-31- May

The  North Jersey Friendship House  will be hosting their 9th Annual Wellness Walk for Mental Health &  Autism.  This will take place in Olsen Park Bogota, NJ. This is chance to raise money and awareness of mental health issues while enjoying an early afternoon outdoors. There will be a walk-a-thon  around Olsen Park with donations going to help Friendship House with their work. There will also be Music, A cook-out, Raffles and a Zumba class.
