Over the previous weekend members of the Ridgefield Park Boy scout troop #3 repainted the Seniors Center located on the second Floor of the Bogota Public Library. Volunteer scouts , and some members of their families patched, and sanded down the walls of the main room of the Senior Center as well as the kitchen, and back hallway. They painted over the salmon coloured walls, and gave them a warm beige tint to the room. Also added were corner guards on the the centre column, and pilaster to stopped the damage to the columns, and to protect anyone who may accidentally bump into the columns.
The Senior Center is next looking to replace the carpeting, that was last installed over 20 years ago. They are looking into something with a bit more colour, but also of industrial grade in order to hold up under heavy use. The Main room is used as an activities room for youth events held by the Library, so a carpeting with ease of maintenance, and comfort to the occupants is needed. The Senior Center is also used for special meeting by the Bogota Borough Council when they need a larger venue for their meeting.
The Bogota Library will also be performing and upgraded to their shelving. They will receive an order of replacement shelving on Friday 28-August. They are looking for volunteers to assist them in unloading the delivery truck, and bring the pieces into the building. Snacks, and refreshments will be provided. In order to make way for the new shelving the Library is having a clearance sale on books. For $10 the buyer can fill a standard size garbage bag with as many books as it can fit. Or a regular grocery bag for just $3. This is a chance to expand one's personal library, or to give books to another organization they may need them. This will also reduce the amount of books the Library will need to move that will speed up the replacement of the old shelves.
