Blood Drive

31-January-2017
On Saturday-28-January the Bogota  VFW Ralph Hall Post #5561 hosted a blood drive in cooperation with  the Community Blood Services. A small, but steady of volunteers came in to help supply the need for transfusion-able  blood to be used in Bergen County.  Donors ranged from average Citizens, EMS workers, other Veterans, and people just wanting to help fill a need. This was the first time  Bogota post #5561  sponsored a blood drive of this type. Post Commander Alex Hernandez talked of how post #5561 felt it was important to provide an addition space for the Community Blood Services to accept blood donation. He continued to say that an donation event here can supplement the drives sponsored by the Bogota Volunteer Fire Department and the Girl Scouts.
Cmdr. Hernandez hopes that the CBS was encourage by the turn out, and will make the Post #5561 hall an annual event.  He feels that this is another way to show the residents of Bogota, and surrounding area. that this VFW post is open all types of occasions.  Cmdr. Hernandez restated that the  primary goal of  the VFW is to be a place were any Veteran can come in and be welcomed. He also said that, as Veterans, the Women and Men of his post are committed to help the community when needed.
