Information about additional events happening in and around Bogota at the end of January and in February-2017

Fridays 
Bogota
     The Bogota  Public Library is conducting a low impact version of their Fit Club. This will take place on Fridays in the second Floor Senior Centre.  It is being run by Library Director Radwa Ali who will lead the class in a series of movement exercises.  It  is scheduled to start at 4:00p , is a free event and open to anyone 18 years or older.  It is recommended anyone attending wear comfortable clothing which allows for easy movements.  Personal  water bottles  and a towel should also be brought.  There is no register required, however anyone attending will be asked to sign a waiver to participate. Friday-27-Jan.
Maywood, NJ
   The Steen 6th Grade Committee will host a paint party  to help raise funds for the Steen Class of 2017. This will be held at Paintbrush Studios in Maywood, NJ. This event will start at 7:00p. Tickets are $45 per person and include painting supplies and appetizers. Personal refreshment may be brought. Saturday-28-Jan.
Bogota 
   The Bogota Ralph Hall VFW Post #5561  is hosting a Blood and Platelet drive starting at 9:00a. This will be held in the post Canteen located on the lower floor at 241 W. Shore Rd Bogota, NJ. This will being run by the Community Blood Services  which will use the collected blood cells  for transfusions for anyone who need to replenish their system due to an accident or surgery. Platelets are use to aid in blood clotting that are use for those going through cancer treatments , or organ transplants.  .
    Anyone may donate if the are between  17-75 years old, in good heath, and weigh at least 110 lbs. A donor is accepted even if they are prescribed medications that are frequently taken, inform the staff of all medication being taken, and it is recommended that a donor have a good meal , and plenty of fluids prior to donating.

Saturday-28-Jan.
Bogota 
   The Bogota Public Library and Bogota Beautiful will host a Community Pot-Luck Luncheon. This will take place on in the second floor senior Center and begin at 1:00p. This will be an International Themed event. Anyone wishing to attend is asked to bring a dish highlighting the persons ethic background.  Attendees are ask to register with Bogota Beautiful in order list what food item is being provided. This will be a Luncheon affair with courses from Appetizers, Mains, and Desserts needed.  Also when attending it is asked that items which will be donated to the St. Joseph's food bank be brought. Items such as  canned goods, cereals, pasta, boxes  of potatoes, rice & stuffing will be accepted. Saturday-4-Feb.
Bogota

  The Bogota Varsity Cheerleaders will be hosting their second annual Zumba Dance to the Beat event.  It will be held at in the Bogota High School  Gymnasium with the doors opening at 6:00p Tickets are priced at $35.00 person. Price includes a T-shirt, Towel, Water Bottle and 10 complimentary Raffle tickets. Proceeds from this event will be donated to the American Heart Association in honour of Julio Alvarez. 
  This  is in support of  the American Heart Association To bring awareness and education of heart disease. There will include Zumba, Yoga, lessons and more information  to help our community learn about healthy heart, mind and lifestyle. This is another way the Bogota Varsity Cheerleaders strive to help different foundations and assist in the community.  This event is in honour  of Cheerleading Head Coach Gabrielle Carpenter's late Uncle Julio Alvarez who had been diagnosed and lost his battle to heart disease.
   They are also  currently looking for vendors  to attend and to sponsor this event. For more information about tickets or becoming a vendor please email them atbogotabucscheer@gmail.com
