This Weeks Events

2-September-2018

Some events scheduled to take place in and around Bogota, for the Week starting on  Sunday-2-September. Times and dates may change due weather or other circumstances. Please contact the event for the most up to date information.  More events will be added when they become available.

Continuing
 Starting on Monday-26- February the main parking lot and front entrance to Bogota High School will be closed. This is due to the reconstruction of the Parking lot. Work is scheduled to continue until First week of September-2018.   All access to the High School will be through the side door on the North side of the building.







Continuing 


  Starting on Sunday-1 July-2018 the Borough of Bogota will change the ordnance in what can be recycled. Bottle & cans recycling pick-up the Borough of Bogota will now be limited to: Aluminium, Glass, Bi-metal/Tin cans. Aluminium foils and pie plates will be accepted but must be clean. Plastic Containers with the symbol  1, 2, or 5  only  will also be accepted.   All recyclable material must be placed in  reusable trash receptacles.  Items places in plastic bag will not be collected. Paper and cardboard recycling remains unchanged.
   The  collectible the products that have been removed from the accepted list will now be accepted by The Borough of Bogota in cooperation with the Ridgefield Park  environmental commission and collected in a separate way. The Trex Corporation has provided bins to accept the following item. Grocery bags, bread bags, case overwrapping, dry cleaning bags, newspaper sleeves, ice bags, wood pellet bags, zip lock & other re-seal able bags, produce bags, bubble wrap, salt bags, and cereal bags. All  recyclable materials must be clean, dry and free of food residue. For every 500 pounds of plastic collected the Trex Corporation will donate a new park bench, made from recycled materials. The benches will be donated to both Bogota and Ridgfield Park on a rotating basis. As of now a Trex collection bin is in the lobby of the Bogota Borough Hall and  the Bogota Public Library can be accessed  during  regular business hours. More bins are planned for other locations in the future.
  The collection day under the new rules will be Thursday-5-July (due to the Fourth of July Holiday) Then every other Wednesday.

      - There will no pick-up of grass cutting of other vegetation.  This will be pick-up on Tuesday-4-September 




Tuesday-4-September
Bogota
Congressman Josh Gottheimer of New Jersey Fifth District announced  a number of programs relevant to the resident of Bogota and Bergen County.  One is that Congressman Gottheimer  will be hosting a Veterans Resource Fair at the Bogota VFW Post #5561 Headquarters. This will take place on Tuesday-4-September starting at 11:00a. This is open to any Veteran and Military Families from The NJ Fifth District. This includes Bogota, Hackensack, Parts of Teaneck and communities in Northern Bergen County. Also towns in Western parts of Passaic, Sussex, and Warren Counties.
  This event will be aid those Veteran, and Families eligible to work with experts on simplifying the process needed to obtain assistance from the Veterans Administration and other Government agencies.  There will also be assistance in obtaining a  Bergen County Veterans’ Service Card.

Wednesday & Thursday-5 &6 September

The Bogota  Public Library will have  story time reading  starting at 10:30a. También habrá Historias leídas en español en este momento. This is open available to any Student wishing to join in.  This will be held  under the tree in the Nikki Spiegel Story Time Corner.    St. Joseph's  will have it's first day of Classes for the 2018-19 school year starting at 7:50a







Thursday-6-September

The  Public Schools of the Bogota Board of Education will have it's first day of school for the year 2018-19. This will be a full school day with classes starting at 8:00a

  The Bogota Borough Council will be holding their regular meeting and work session. This is schedule to start at 7:30p. It will take place in the Council Chambers located on the second floor at 375 Larch Ave. Bogota, NJ.  This meeting is open to the public.

Thursday-6 August
Teaneck, NJ
 The next day of the Teaneck Farmers Market  for this season. Shoppers will be able purchase locally grown  and produced food items.  This annual event will be every Thursday from June to the end of October. The stand open at 12:00 noon and continue until 6:00p   The Teaneck Farmers Market is located in the municipal parking lot along Beverly Rd Teaneck, NJ. There is additional parking available near by.

   The Bogota  Public Library  host their Toddler play group. This is an opportunity for   young children and their Parents to play and relax in a safe area.     The Bogota Public Library will hold the first meeting of its new Genealogy Group. This is open to anyone who may be interested in learning  more about exploring a Family   background, or  just would like to assist others working  on their history. This will mmet on  the second Saturday of every month,  starting at 10:00a.
