Weekend Events

5-September-2018


Some events scheduled to take place in and around Bogota, for the Weekend starting on  Thursday-6-September. Times and dates may change due weather or other circumstances. Please contact the event for the most up to date information.  More events will be added when they become available.

Continuing
 Starting on Monday-26- February the main parking lot and front entrance to Bogota High School will be closed. This is due to the reconstruction of the Parking lot. Work is scheduled to continue until First week of September-2018.   All access to the High School will be through the side door on the North side of the building.

  Starting on Sunday-1 July-2018 the Borough of Bogota will change the ordnance in what can be recycled. Bottle & cans recycling pick-up the Borough of Bogota will now be limited to: Aluminium, Glass, Bi-metal/Tin cans. Aluminium foils and pie plates will be accepted but must be clean. Plastic Containers with the symbol  1, 2, or 5  only  will also be accepted.   All recyclable material must be placed in  reusable trash receptacles.  Items places in plastic bag will not be collected. Paper and cardboard recycling remains unchanged.
   The  collectible the products that have been removed from the accepted list will now be accepted by The Borough of Bogota in cooperation with the Ridgefield Park  environmental commission and collected in a separate way. The Trex Corporation has provided bins to accept the following item. Grocery bags, bread bags, case overwrapping, dry cleaning bags, newspaper sleeves, ice bags, wood pellet bags, zip lock & other re-seal able bags, produce bags, bubble wrap, salt bags, and cereal bags. All  recyclable materials must be clean, dry and free of food residue. For every 500 pounds of plastic collected the Trex Corporation will donate a new park bench, made from recycled materials. The benches will be donated to both Bogota and Ridgfield Park on a rotating basis. As of now a Trex collection bin is in the lobby of the Bogota Borough Hall and  the Bogota Public Library can be accessed  during  regular business hours. More bins are planned for other locations in the future.
  The collection day under the new rules will be Thursday-5-July (due to the Fourth of July Holiday) Then every other Wednesday.

The  Public Schools of the Bogota Board of Education will have it's first day of school for the year 2018-19. This will be a full school day with classes starting at 8:00a

  The Bogota Borough Council will be holding their regular meeting and work session. This is schedule to start at 7:30p. It will take place in the Council Chambers located on the second floor at 375 Larch Ave. Bogota, NJ.  This meeting is open to the public.

Thursday-6 August
Teaneck, NJ
 The next day of the Teaneck Farmers Market  for this season. Shoppers will be able purchase locally grown  and produced food items.  This annual event will be every Thursday from June to the end of October. The stand open at 12:00 noon and continue until 6:00p   The Teaneck Farmers Market is located in the municipal parking lot along Beverly Rd Teaneck, NJ. There is additional parking available near by.

   The Bogota  Public Library  host their Toddler play group. This is an opportunity for   young children and their Parents to play and relax in a safe area.     The Bogota Public Library will hold the first meeting of its new Genealogy Group. This is open to anyone who may be interested in learning  more about exploring a Family   background, or  just would like to assist others working  on their history. This will mmet on  the second Saturday of every month,  starting at 10:00a.   A new organization  called " Care for the Brave" will hold a launch event at the Bogota VFW Post #5561. This is a advocacy group that will support  and provide outreach to local wounded Veterans  This is a free event which start at 2:00p and run until 6:00p  At this event they plan on honouring  local Veterans Douglas Ardison and Junior Eusebio Camacho.

   The Bogota Public Library will present its next  Food for Thought Book discussion night  This will feature "The Things They Carried" by Alan Tom O'Brien.  This is a free event with the book available at the Library.

     The Bogota Public Library will offer an AARP  Defensive Driving Course. This is designed for drivers over the age of 50 and will explain update driving rules and teach defensive driving techniques. Ridgefield Park, NJ
   The Ridgefield Park's  Elks Lodge #1506 will hold its annual Cassetta-Dietrich Memorial Golf Outing at the Overpeck County Golf Course in Teaneck, NJ.   Registration opens at 8:30 a with a Tee Time at 9:30a.  Tickets for both the golfing  and dinner are priced at $125 per person. For the dinner alone is $35.00 per person and will be held at Vitales Restaurant . Proceeds from these events will go to assist the Veterans Service Committee along with other Elks charities. Registration and payments must be made before Monday 11-September.     The weekly " Meet the Mayor"  event will take place in the office of Mayor Chris Keleman This is open to any Bogota resident who would to ask the Mayor a question about  Bogota, or to discuss any matter to help improve the quality of life in the Borough. Anyone who wishes just to have an informal conversation with the Mayor is also welcome to attend. Meetings will be held on a first come basis. This will run from 5:00p to 7:00p in the Mayor's office. His office is on in Bogota Borough Hall located at 375 Larch Ave. Bogota, NJ.
