Lady Bucs Senior Night

 On Friday-18-October the Bogota Lady Bucs Volleyball team host the West Orange Lady Mountaineers at Speary Gym. This was also the Senior game for the 2019 Season.  First Bogota Coach Brad DiRupo recognized the five Seniors from West Orange: Lindsay Levine 
Ogechi Nwobu, Gabriella Uribe,Onye Bosco, and Jahaira Santisteban . Then he announced the five Lady Bucs Seniors: Katie Tobin, Angelique Caceres, Olivia Rosado, Nylene Mateo and Julianne Corniel were presented bouquets and thanked for their service to Bogota Sports. 
  The first set started off evenly with a few lead changes. Neither team could have more than a two point advantage for the first 16 points.  After being tied at 8-8 Bogota found a way to take over the lead for good with a 5 point run. The Lady Mountaineers would keep Bogota off guard using a few soft returns that found some empty space in the Lady Bucs defense.  West Orange’s defense would also limited Bogota scoring with a number of locks at the net for the entire match. Nylene Mateo would come up to serve and would push the Lady Bucs to the 20 point  make and Bogota would get a 25-14 opening win. 
  Bogota served first in the second set and would be give a 7-0 advantage by Angelique Caceres.  The Lady Bucs would continue to add to their lead reaching an 8 point gap.  West Orange’s Francesa Vallejo would have a 4 point service run to tighten the game.  Bogota would then come back and double the point making the score 16-8. Lady Mountaineers started their own comeback with Jahaira Santisteban serving for the next  7 points. Bogota would break the steak before the visitors had a chance to tie the set, then would take 8 of the next 11 points to secure a 2-0 ( 25-14: 25-18) match win. 
   Bogota would be led by Nylene Mateo who would finish with 18 Kills, Amber Vazquez scored team highs with 20 Assists and 8 Service Points. Gianna Estevez had 14 Digs, with Ashanna Caviness, Julianne Corniel, and Nylene Mateo having 2 Blocks apiece.  Katie Tobin, Amber Vazquez, and Nylene Mateo would each have 2 Aces.
  Bogota’s record is now 20-2. They next play on Saturday-19-October as the #4 seed in the Bergen County Volleyball Tournament. They will face #13 Leonia at the Old Tappan High Schools’s North Gym. The first serve is scheduled for 4:30p.  Their next league match is on Tuesday-22-October at Park Ridge. This is scheduled to start  for 4:00p.
