Chief Mr. Anthony F. Culmone Jr

  On Tuesday-9-November a Funeral Mass was held for former Bogota Fire Chief Mr. Anthony F. Culmone Jr. 67  who passed away Monday-1-November. This took place at St. Joseph Church in Bogota. Chief Culmone was escorted by a Cortege lead by Current Fire Chief Mr. Kenneth Kalman. Just behind Chief Kalman was the truck of Hose Co. #2 draped in Funeral Bunting along with the floral arrangement of the viewing. Chief Culmone was a longtime member, and Captain of Bogota Hose #2 Company. The casket holding Chief Culmone arrived on the back of a 1954  Ward LaFrance Pumper truck courtesy of the Oakland NJ Fire Department. The procession  passed under an American flag hung over Palisade Ave before reaching St. Joseph Church. The flag was raised by Bogota Hook and Ladder #1 aerial ladder truck. They were assisted by the the River Edge Fire Dept. Truck #1. 
   Pallbearers, and honour guard consisted member of the Hackensack, Jersey City , Liberty Corners  and Bogota Fire Departments. After the service the Cortege would pass by The Central Ave Firehouse of Hose #2 and the Culmone home. It continued to the Maple Grove Park Cemetery  at 535 Hudson St. Hackensack, NJ for the Committal service.
  Chief Culmone was a Volunteer Firefighter for 41 years at the Bogota Fire Department (Hose #2), holding the position of Chief in 2006 and 2018.  He also served with  City of Englewood as a Fire Inspector for 23 years as well as He was a Life Member of both the New Jersey & New York Volunteer Firemen's Association and the New Jersey State Firemen's Association, a member of the International Association of Arson Investigators and the Bergen County Fire Prevention and Protection Association. In addition, Chief Culmone was an Advisory Board Member and Educator with the Bergen County Juvenile Fire Prevention Program. He graduated from Bogota High School in 1972 to complete a B.A. at Northland College in Ashland, WI, and a M.A.T. in Biology Education at Fairleigh Dickinson University.  Chief Culmone also held a Certificate in Administration & Supervision from Kean University and taught Science in the Elizabeth Public Schools. He was also a decorated Eagle Scout. Donations may be sent to the CarePlus Foundation of Bergen County and the Bergen County Juvenile Fire Prevention Program.
