Lady Bucs Volleyball

  On Tuesday-9-November the #1 seeded Lady Bucs played the #3 seed Lady Panthers from Glen Rock in the finals of the 2021 New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association Group I, Section I playoff tournament. This was played at Speary Gym in Bogota. Glen Rock served first  and after a long first volley sequence scored the first  point of the match. Bogota then tied the opening set and took a 3-1 lead.  Lady Bucs' Mia Pimentel double the score  with a short 3 point Service run.  Glen Rock's Hope Lagemann allowed the Lady Panthers to pull within one point with her own service run.  Bogota was opening a larger advantage outscoring their opponents  7 to 3 with the serving of Seniah Burrell and Gyanna Hernandez. Next Anna Kang's four point Service run, again had the Lady Panther with in one point of tying the set.  Ashanna Caviness restored the Bogota advantage to 18-14. The Lady Panthers Hope Lagemann  would serve twice to make score 18-16 in favor of the home team. On her next time serving the Lady Bucs' Seniah Burrell push Bogota over the 20 point mark and with in two points of a set win.  Bogota scored two out of the next three points for a first set win 25-20 and a 1-0 match lead.
   Bogota served first in the second set and Glen Rock again scored first and held a 2-0 lead.  Hope Lagemann would go on a seven point Service run and give Bogota an 8-2 lead. The rest of the set saw the Lady Bucs defense would Glen Rock limited serving opportunities while using their own serving to widen the margin. Ashanna Caviness gave Bogota their first double digit lead of the match 15-5.  Then Angelina Buhler moved the Lady Bucs even closer to the win with a four point scoring run.  Bogota  would get get the final side out of the set to post a 25-11 second set win and a 2-0 match win.
  This gave Bogota their 12th straight New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association  Sectional title
  Bogota's record is now 25-2.
  Bogota's Ashanna Caviness lead all scorers with 13-Kills and 2 Blocks. Lady Panthers' Hope Lagemann had 6 Kills, and along with Polina Lipits, 1 Block. Mia Pimentel recorded match highs with 8 Digs , 24 Assists, and 4 Aces. Glen Rock was lead by Abby Reznikov and Lorelei George with 6 Digs. With Ericka Nerona having 11 Assists.  Anna Kang had 6 Service Points for her team, with Hope Lagemann adding 2 Aces. Bogota's Hope Lagemann had a match high with 9 Service Points. 
   They next play on Thursday-11-November when the travel to  play #2 Verona in the group I semifinals. First serve is scheduled for 6:00p
