2025 E. Roy Bixby Graduation

  On Wednesday-11-June, the E. Roy Bixby School in Bogota held their Promotion Ceremony for the Class of 2025. This was held in the Bixby courtyard, under a blue and white balloon arch. 
  Ms. Leah Segovia led the audience in the Pledge of Allegiance, and the National Anthem. First year Bixby Principal Ms. Priscilla Ortiz thanked the Faculty and Parents for welcoming her to her new job. She then talked about a game of football catch with some of the Students which set the tone of acceptance and respect for the rest of the year. Principal Ortiz congratulated the Students for their achievements in school. And asked the Students to carry the lessons they learned at Bixby as they move on to the next part of their Education. 
 Next, Superintendent Mr. Damian Kennedy talked about the Students years in Bixby and building the foundation of Academic and Personal success. Mr. Kennedy told the Students what changes await them at the Middle School. Along with new opportunities they can take part in, and the new additions to the High School. Then Mr. Kennedy recited a story about the two wolves that can live inside a person. One represents: Fear, Anger, Laziness and Jealousy. While the other stands for Love, Kindness, Hope, and Determination. A persons Strength, Confidence, and Success can be based on if the correct wolf is fed. 
 Then the Student Speakers addressed the audience. They were Mr. Mauricio Argueta, and Ms. Liliana Villalobos who talked about their experience at Bixby School. How the school may have seen to take a long-time doing schoolwork but balanced by the Friendship and memories that passed quickly. And all the activities they shared during their Fifth-Grade year. 
 They thanked Principal Ortiz along with the Teachers, and Staff at Bixby School. They also thanked their Parents and Families for supporting them. And wished their classmates the best in the upcoming future.
  This was followed by the presentation of a number of school awards. The first was the Principal's Caring Award. This was given to Ms. Madison Narvaez. Next was the Bogota VFW Post # 5561 Commander Mr. Alex Hernandez presented the Award for Highest Academic Achievement. They would go to Students Mr. Julian Balatbat and Mr. Juan Caizapanta Avila. The next awards were for the President’s Award for Educational Achievement and the Student Congress Leadership. This was followed by PTO members Ms. Lisette Diaz, Usotena Francis, and Ms. Christine Nemec. Presenting the awards for Creative Writing and Creative Arts. Then Bogota Police Officer Laura Shakiri handed out the certificates to the Students who served on the Safety Patrol for this year. After that, the certificates for the Student Council were given. 
  One more honor was then presented by Ms. Nicole Schiavello. She talked about the 25 years of service in education, by Bixby Fifth Grade teacher Ms. Laura Ketchum. Ms. Schiavello told about her guidance, advice, experience, and friendship that will be remembered as she moves on to her retirement. Ms. Ketchum was given a present of garden tools as she can spend more time gardening.
  Finally, the time came to have the 2025 Fifth Grade Class of the E. Roy Bixby school receive their Certificates of Promotion from Principal Ortiz. When the final certificate was presented, the Students were introduced and given a round of applause from those in attendance.
  As the Students walked the recessional to “Best Day of my Life” to begin the next phase of their Academic Careers.
