9-June -2025
On Thursday-5-June, the Bogota Borough Council held their Work Session meeting for the month.
After Citizens Remarks the Council discussed a, possible, amendment to the garbage disposal ordinance within the Borough. Some of the points made was to require any biological material must be placed in garbage cans with a closable lid. This is to reduce the number of garbage bags being placed on the curbside for pick-up. They instructed the Borough Attorney to examine ordinances from other municipalities to see if any similar proposals can be used in Bogota. His findings will be discussed at a future meeting.
Then four ordinances were introduced. A pair were about salaries and benefits, while the other two are for bonds to be used for Public and Road improvements. This will be presented for Public comment at the next meeting on Thursday-19-June.
This was followed by the adoption of two items. The first was to submit a grant application for Petrick Park. And an ordinance to amend the Borough code for Flood Hazard Protection. Both were passed by unanimous vote
Next the Council passed all the resolutions on the Consent Agenda, by unanimous vote. Items of note were:
-To approve two part-time workers as Fire Prevention Inspectors.
-Approve Seasonal workers for the Recreation Summer Camp.
-To authorize the Bogota Chief of Police to initiate the promotional process for Police Sergeant.
Then Mr. Tony Teresi was appointed to the Planning Board. With Ms. Jennifer Van Vugt being appointed to the Public Library Board.
The next regular Council meeting will be held on Thursday-19-June starting at 7:30p. It is scheduled to be held in the Council Chambers located on the second floor of 375 Larch Ave Bogota, NJ. For more information please visit: https://www.bogotaonline.org/
