18-August-2025
It has been announced that general registration for the 2025 HACK Race is now officially open. The race is scheduled to happen Saturday September 27. The race will start at Riverside Park at 24 Industrial Ave. Ridgefield Park at 11:00a.
This will be the 10th race on the Hackensack River and is hosted by the Wanda Canoe Club and the Village of Ridgefield Park. This is an East Coast Outrigger Racing Association (ECORA) sanctioned OC1/OC2 points series. In addition to outrigger, other classes will include surfski, sea kayak, ICF sprint canoe/kayak, V1, and marathon/war canoe.
The racecourse is on the relatively protected water of the Hackensack River, beginning and ending in front of the Wanda Canoe Club. There will be two races run concurrently. There will be a 9-mile Elite Race run in 2-3 heats with boats of similar speeds and a 5KM Novice Race.
Registration will be capped at 75 boats or 90 Paddlers (whichever comes first) between the Elite and the Novice Race. Last day of online registration is Tuesday, September 23rd 8:00p (or whenever they hit the cap). The Elite Race will cost $35/paddler, and Novice Race will cost $25/paddler. There will be an online safety meeting Wednesday, September 24th 7:30p.
Race registration is non-refundable and benefits Hackensack Riverkeeper Inc.'s paddling programs and water clean-ups. If the race is cancelled, a $10 code will be issued towards next year's race to all registrants.
At the awards ceremony 1 leash will be given out to a random race participant courtesy of Meta Leash. You must be present at the awards ceremony to win the leash. They will also be giving out 2025 HACK socks to all race finishers after the race.
