24-August-2025
On Thursday-21-August, the Bogota Borough
Council held their Work Session meeting for the month.
At the start of the meeting Bogota Mayor Ms. Daniele Fede asked all in attendance to remain standing to remember two Bogota Residents who recently passed away. They were Ms. Gloria Buonarota, and Mr. Ray Eden.
After Citizens Remarks the Council had a
discussion about two topics. The first was to hear about introduction of an
Ordinance to regulate smaller Electric Vehicles powered
by Lithium Batteries. This will regulate the sale
of Lithium Batteries, the charging and storage of Electric Vehicles using these
batteries. This will be presentive for Public Comment at the Regular Council
Meeting on Thursday-18-September.
The other topic was about contracting with a firm that will provide School Crossing Guard Service with the Borough. The CEO from the company Mr. Adam Bryan addressed the Council. He said that all current Crossing Guard will be retained, and residents of Bogota will be given first choice to work in Bogota. Mr. Bryan continued by saying the service will fill any positions when needed if the assigned guard is not available for their shift. This will allow the Bogota Police Officers to remain on duty instead of working at a school crossing. This is expected to save the Borough the cost of using the officers as Crossing Guards. Mr. Bryan also said the company will take over the liability and workman’s compensation insurance policies for the Crossing Guards. Along with providing any clothing and equipment needed. This was later voted on and passed by majority vote later on in the meeting.
