Bogota 5k run

 7-November-2025
On Sunday-26-October the Bogota High School 100th Anniversary Home-coming Weekend climaxed with the Bogota 5K run.
Runners arrived in the Welcome Plaza at the Bogota Athletic Complex before the sunrise. They register for the events this day, took time to warm-up, and explored the sponsorship tables that were on display.
As the start time moved closer the participants gathered on River Rd just beyond S. Park Pl. First Ms. Tsering Lama sang the National Anthem with the runners just behind the starting line. Then the horned sounded to start the race heading South on River Rd.
The course was laid out to go through the Streets of the Borough. After going down River Rd, the course made a left turn onto Elm Ave. This continued to W. Grove St to make find its way to move South onto Larch Ave. A turnaround at McDougall saw the runners split Larch Ave into South and North lanes. The northern route turn left on W. Main St followed by a number of turns to return to W. Park Pl. From there the course move clockwise around the Softball and Baseball fields to the path behind the scoreboard. The runners then enter Feigel Field’s new running track. Then, after moving along the Snack Bar, turn onto the homestretch to the finish line.
The top Men’s finishers were Mr. Nikko Reyes coming in first. Then Mr. Danny Dauro in Second and Mr. Jimmy Gutierrez in third. The Women’s group was led by Ms. Kelly Weckstein taking the top spot. Then Ms. Kara VaDooijeweert in second with Ms. Stephanie Santana placing third.
When the final of the 197 participants crossed the finish line the track was reset for the next two event. The first was a one-mile walk, or run, which was four times around the running track. One of the highlights was alumni members of the Women’s Track & Field Bucs walking together, and a few Alumni from the Men’s Squad.
Then a Kids sprint once around the track was the last race of the day.
With all the race completed trophies were awarded to the top three overall finishers. Other awards were presented to the winner of each of the different age groups.
The event ended with a presentation from the Bogota Marching Buccaneer Band playing a preview of their set as a part of the 78th North Jersey Band Festival later that day in Clifton Stadium.
