On Saturday-22- November the Trinity Lutheran Church in Bogota held their annual collection for items to be used on Thanksgiving. By the end of the day, they had collected 19 turkeys totaling over 333 pounds. They also collected a number of other goods including boxed and canned goods that would be part of the side dishes use with the dinner. Along with mixes that were used for desserts to end the meal.
On Monday-24-November the Bogota Borough Hall was open to anyone who wanted to collect food and personal items to supplement families because of the stoppage of SNAP benefits. Items brought to Borough Hall over the past few weeks included boxed and canned good including cereals and pasta. Can goods brought in ranged from soups, vegetables sauces and gravies.
Other products donated were personal hygiene and sanitary items. Infant diapers and formula, along with general cleaning products. Items not picked up on that day were transported to be added to the St. Joseph Food Pantry.
