On Thursday-6-November the #3 Bogota Lady Volleyball Bucs hosted the #6 Cedar Grove Lady Panthers in the Quarterfinal round of the 2025 New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association (NJSIAA) Women’s Volleyball North Jersey 2 Group 1 Tournament. This was played in Speary Gym, and all tournament matches will be a best of five.
Cedar Grove open the first set with the serve, but the Lady Bucs scored the first point. With Melannie Solis serving Bogota opened up a 5 to 0 advantage. The Lady Bucs allowed the Visitors small scoring runs and kept expanding the point difference. The Lady Panther still remained close through-out the first set. Then Allene Jimenez served the winning points to give Bogota a 25 to 18 first set win.
The second set started with Bogota’s Melannie Solis with the ball, but the Lady Panthers won the first point. The set then was tied at 1 point each, and again at 2 to 2. When Bogota took a 3 to 2 Yiesak Cabrera served to make it a 5 to 2 set. Bogota would double the score a number of times with Cedar Grove not allowing the home team to take full control.
The Lady Panthers had scoring runs with Katherine Loftus, and Alyssa D’Angelo serving. This was matched with Emma Fowler, and Lucy Villamar producing points for Bogota. The Lady Bucs would win this set again by the score of 25-18
The third set had Cedar Grove opening with the serve. They would change the order of service with Caitlin O’Conner going first. She would help her team to score first. Then Bogota tied the set at 1 apiece. This was the start of back-and-forth play. In the first 24 points made there would be ten ties, and six lead changes. Isabella Stolz served the Lady Panthers to a 9 to 7 lead. When the score was equal at 12 to 12, Melannie Solis caused the seventh and final lead change giving Bogota a 13 to 12 lead. Lucy Villamar’s five-point scoring run pushed Bogota to a 25 to 16 set win for a 3 to 0 Match victory.
Bogota’s Emma Fowler scored a match high with 16 Kills. Nikole Alvarez led all players with 28 Assists, and with Ariana Marchant recording 10 Digs. Cedar Grove was led by Alyssa D’Angelo with 8 Kills, along with a match high with 11 Digs. Laila Vega had 9 Assists.
Bogota’s record is now 22-4. The next play on Saturday-8-November in a Semifinal match. This will be held in Verona with the first serve at 1:00p.
