On Monday-3-November the #3 Bogota Lady Volleyball Bucs took on #14 Wallington Lady Panthers in the first round of the 2025 New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association (NJSIAA) Women’s Volleyball North Jersey 2 Group 1 Tournament. This was played in Speary Gym, and all tournament matches will be a best of five.
Before the match started a moment of silence was taken to remember Bogota resident and longtime supporter of Bogota Athletics Mr. Steven Brown.
Bogota open the first set with the serve, but Wallington scored the first point, after a long volley session. The Lady Bucs then accounted for the next four points. Bogota control the play after that, with Lady Bucs Emma Fowler leading Bogota on a 7-point run to win the set 25-15.
The Lady Panther served first in the second set, and this time Bogota scored first. Behind Melannie Solis’ service the Lady Bucs built a 10-0 advantage. The home team won that set by the score of 25 to 5.
The third set had Bogota serving and winning the opening point. The set was quickly tied by the Lady Panthers at 1 apiece. Bogota retook the lead and won the set 25-13 for a 3 to 0 match win.
Emma Fowler had a match high with 16 Kills and a match high with 6 Aces. Lucy Villamar had 8 Digs. Nikole Alvarez led all players with 34 Assists. Keidy Rodriguez recorded 4 Blocks.
Bogota’s record is now 21-4. The next play on Thursday-6-November for a Quarterfinal match. The opponent and time will be announced after the first-round matches that will take place on Tuesday-4-November.
