On Wednesday 12-November three members from the Bergen County Board of Commissioners travel to Bogota to see the donation to help aid local residents. The Borough of Bogota started to help collect food, and personal item to offset the reduction of SNAP aid from the Federal Government.
County Commissioners Ms. Tracy Zur, Ms. Mary Amoroso, and Ms. Germaine Ortiz met with Council Members Ms. Connie Carpenter, and Mr. Pat McHale, along Ms. Kathy Ferris and Borough Administrator Mr. Conal O’Malley in the Council Chambers.
The County Commissioners heard about how the Borough is working with the Atwater Apartment Complex, and the St. Joseph Food Panty to support the local households in need.
Commissioners Zur complemented the Bogota representatives on their effort to assist the over 300 local families needing the additional help. Along with working other Borough organizations at this time.
Councilwoman Carpenter said that Bogota has a history of supporting other citizens in time of need. This includes the outpouring of donations to the residents displaced by the fire of the West View Apartments. So many items were donated that the Borough could share items with many more people within the Borough.
Donations will continue into next week. A disruption event is being planned for the beginning of Thanksgiving week.
