Haunted Library

1-November-2025

On Saturday 25-October, the Bogota Public Library started the day with the Not-so-Scary Storytime, held in the Children’s Reading Center and led by Mr. Tom Skrnich. The story he chose was called “The Creepy Crayon”, where a student finds a crayon that causes them to ace their classes against their will. When the story was done, Mr. Skrnich led the children in a dance about eating a banana.
After the Not-so-Scary Storytime had finished, the Library’s staff and their volunteers held their Haunted Library on the second floor Senior Center. Costumed students were able to play some games and were offered treats. For the brave, there was also a chance to walk through the dark tunnel.  This was set-up full of colored lights, eerie sounds and props that jumped toward the walkers. Children dressed in costumes walked through the tunnel to find out if they could walk to the other end. Some would need to hold on to a parent, while others tried it on their own. They were rewarded with treats after making out of the darkness.  The attendees featured Princesses, Witches, and Superheroes. There were also a few group costumes, such as a Mario family and a family of cats.
