Soccer Training Camp

22-August-2018
Starting on Monday-20-August the Bogota Soccer Bucs began their training for the 2018 Fall season. They are working out on the Soccer Field in Olsen Park. The sessions begin with typical warm-up then move into a scrimmage game.  This allows Men's Varsity Coach Nicholas Capitanello, and Middle School Coach Samantha Smith observed the players to find out who would be best, in what position.  During the game Coach Capitanello would wait until a stop in play to make adjustments. At other time the Coaches would talk to a player to give advice on how to make a play more effective.
One constant however was to remind the players the team is made up of 10 other players.  "TALK TO EACH OTHER" or "LOOK FOR THE OPEN MAN" would carry across the pitch. When a perceived foul was committed,  Coach Capitanello would just shake his head and explain: " That is not going to be called during the season. I am not calling it now, so get back up and join the play."  When the play did stop, players were moved around to see of a  better working formula could be found.  More often the players were left on their own to keep playing while the Coaches kept taking mental notes of who will be on which team. Who will make it up to the Varsity level, and who could  learn more by being on the J.V. squad.
Bogota will play a number of full scrimmage in August with the opening game coming on Thursday-6-September at Hawthorne Christian Academy.
