This Weeks Events

2-August-2018

Some events scheduled to take place in and around Bogota, for the month of August starting on Thursday-2-Aug. Times and dates may change due weather or other circumstances. Please contact the event for the most up to date information.  More events will be added when they become available.

Continuing
 Starting on Monday-26- February the main parking lot and front entrance to Bogota High School will be closed. This is due to the reconstruction of the Parking lot. Work is scheduled to continue until First week of September-2018.   All access to the High School will be through the side door on the North side of the building.

  Starting on Sunday-1 July-2018 the Borough of Bogota will change the ordnance in what can be recycled. Bottle & cans recycling pick-up the Borough of Bogota will now be limited to: Aluminium, Glass, Bi-metal/Tin cans. Aluminium foils and pie plates will be accepted but must be clean. Plastic Containers with the symbol  1, 2, or 5  only  will also be accepted.   All recyclable material must be placed in  reusable trash receptacles.  Items places in plastic bag will not be collected. Paper and cardboard recycling remains unchanged.
   The  collectible the products that have been removed from the accepted list will now be accepted by The Borough of Bogota in cooperation with the Ridgefield Park  environmental commission and collected in a separate way. The Trex Corporation has provided bins to accept the following item. Grocery bags, bread bags, case overwrapping, dry cleaning bags, newspaper sleeves, ice bags, wood pellet bags, zip lock & other re-seal able bags, produce bags, bubble wrap, salt bags, and cereal bags. All  recyclable materials must be clean, dry and free of food residue. For every 500 pounds of plastic collected the Trex Corporation will donate a new park bench, made from recycled materials. The benches will be donated to both Bogota and Ridgfield Park on a rotating basis. As of now a Trex collection bin is in the lobby of the Bogota Borough Hall and  the Bogota Public Library can be accessed  during  regular business hours. More bins are planned for other locations in the future.
  The collection day under the new rules will be Thursday-5-July (due to the Fourth of July Holiday) Then every other Wednesday.

Saturday & Sunday-4 &5-Aug
Teaneck, NJ
  Black Box Studios and  the Township of Teaneck will present a performance of Shakespeare " The Twelfth Night". This will be held at the Band Shell in Votee Park, Teaneck, NJ. Curtain time  on Saturday Night is 7:00p. Curtain Time for Sunday is 2:00p admission is free for both performances.  It is advised that anyone attending bring their own lawn chairs, or blankets.

Bogota
   The Bogota Public  Library will have its Teen Advisory Group meeting.  This is  an event open to  Students in grades 6-12. Group members will  participate in various activities and interact with peers. Bring your ideas, creativity, and enthusiasm to the table. Monday-6-August
Bogota
     The Bogota Public  Library will have their Youth's Sewing Club meeting.  This is  open to  Students ages 9-18.  This will teach anyone the art of sewing. There will be a chance to learn machine, and hand sewing as well as shown different project and types of material.  The Bogota Public Library will present their Foreign Film Night with a showing of "Two Days, One Night". This is scheduled to start at 6:00p  and be held in the second floor Senior Centre.     The weekly " Meet the Mayor"  event will take place in the office of Mayor Chris Keleman This is open to any Bogota resident who would to ask the Mayor a question about  Bogota, or to discuss any matter to help improve the quality of life in the Borough. Anyone who wishes just to have an informal conversation with the Mayor is also welcome to attend. Meetings will be held on a first come basis. This will run from 5:00p to 7:00p in the Mayor's office. His office is on in Bogota Borough Hall located at 375 Larch Ave. Bogota, NJ.

Monday-6-August
Hackensack, NJ
The Hackensack Performing Arts Center will present its next Sunset Zumia series will be held in the Atlantic St. Park. This is schedule to start at 7:30p, and is free to the public. Is this open to anyone wishing to practice, or learn about the benefits of yoga regardless of skill level. Everyone you wishes to attend is required to provide their own mat, towels, and water.    The Bogota  Public Library will  host Yoga classes lead by Conor Michael Murphy. This is open to anyone 18 years or older regardless of their level. It is asked anyone wishing to attend please bring their own yoga mat, or towel, and their own water bottle.    The Teaneck Police Dept. will host their annual Nigh Out event at Votee Park. This will take place at Votee Park and start at 5:00p. This will give the public the opportunity to talk to members of the Teaneck Police, Fire, Ambulance, and Rescues Depts. to find out more of what they do to help keep the community safe. The Bogota  Public Library will have  story time reading  starting at 10:30a. También habrá Historias leídas en español en este momento. This is open available to any Student wishing to join in.  This will be held  under the tree in the Nikki Spiegel Story Time Corner. Ridgefield Park, NJ
    The next performance  in the McGowan Park Summer Concert series will feature Angel Felliciano playing Classical and Broadway favorites. The concert is scheduled to start at 7:00p in McGowan Park located on the Bergen Turnpike in Ridgefield Park, NJ It is advised that anyone attending bring their own lawn chairs ,or blankets. In case of rain or other weather conditions the concert will be held at the Knights of Columbus hall located at 106 Bergen Ave  The concerts will take place every Wednesday until 29-August. Thursday-9-August
Teaneck, NJ
This will be the opening day the Teaneck Farmers Market  for this season. Shoppers will be able purchase locally grown  and produced food items.  This annual event will be every Thursday from June to the end of October. The stand open at 12:00 noon and continue until 6:00p   The Teaneck Farmers Market is located in the municipal parking lot along Beverly Rd Teaneck, NJ. There is additional parking available near by.

   The Bogota  Public Library  host their Toddler play group. This is an opportunity for   young children and their Parents to play and relax in a safe area.    The Bogota Swim Club will host its annual Camp-out. This is an opportunity for Families to spend the night out and sleep under the stars. There will be swimming until midnight along with movies, games, and water slide. Free S'Mores will be available at midnight. This is open to all Members and to non-members of the Bogota Swim Club. Advanced registration is $7.00 for members & $10.00 for non-members. At the door is $10.00 & $15.00 respectfully. Tents set-up begins at 7:30p  Lights out at 12:30a. The snack bar will be open, but  campers may bring their own food. It is asked that no glass containers be used.

Hackensack, NJ

    The Hackensack Performing Arts Center will present next in its Main St. Live Concert Series will take place in the Atlantic St. Park in Hackensack. The Concert is schedule to begin at 7:00p. Ridgefield Park, NJ
  The Ridgefield Park Elks Lodge # 1506 will be holding a Pasta Dinner. This will start at 8:30a and go until 12:00 noon Prices are $10 for Adults and $5 for student 12 and under. The Breakfast will feature an Omelette station, Pancakes, Bacon,Sausage, French toast, & scrambled eggs. There will also be pastries, cereal along with Coffee, Tea, Milk & Juice. It is asked to bring some Non-perishable food items for the Local Food Pantry.
The Elks lodge is located at the Corner of Spruce & Cedar Sts. Ridgefield Park, NJ
