Bogota Board of Education

 13-October-2021

     On Tuesday-12-October the Bogota Board of Education held their first meeting for the month of October. In his report Superintendent Mr. Damian Kennedy talked about the start of the After care program and how there was over 100 Students in enrolled in it. Other items  Superintendent Kennedy talked about was that the District has been given approval, by the New Jersey Department of Education, to proceed with the purchase of the former Masonic Temple across the street from the High School. Along with the Middle Lockers have been installed and a new Bogota Middle School logo has been painted on the floor of their gym. He also announced that the boiler replacement for the High School is completed and will be test this coming Thursday.  
   Then the Trustees moved to select a candidate to fill the seat vacated by Ms.  Amanda Montgomery. The two candidates were Ms. Trina Olivo and Ms. Stephanie Carl. Both candidates spoke of how they have served on past positions with the Students of the District. These include PTAs and a variety of sports programs. The the Board moved into closed session to discuss the candidates.
  When the members returned Ms. Trina Oliva was selected by unanimous vote. Then Ms. Oliva was sworn in and took her seat as the newest Trustee.
 All the items on the consent agenda were move forward and will be voted on at the next Board of Education meeting. 
    The next Board of Education meeting will be on Tuesday-19-October and is scheduled to start at 7:00p. It will be a hybrid meeting with in-person attendance and available online. The in person meeting will be held in the High Cafeteria located at 2 Henry Luthin pl Bogota, NJ All in person attendee will be required to wear mask at all time while in the building.
