Council Meeting

4-May-2019
On Thursday-2-May the Bogota Borough Council held their first meeting for the month of May.  At the beginning of the meeting two new members of the Bogota Auxiliary Police Dept.were sworn into office. Martin Alonte and Jennifer Polanco were issued the oath of office by Bogota Mayor Chris Kelemen. Then both new Officers were presented with their badge by  Auxiliary Police Captain Rey Sanchez.
During the meeting the Council approved a number of  items. One was to accept  a grant from the Bergen County Trust Fund.  The money from this grant will go to make improvements at Olsen Park. Some of the work scheduled to be done was to reair the Basketball and Tennis courts. Another item approve was to expand the substance abuse policy.  This will  allow testing of anyone employed by the Borough who operates a Borough owned vehicle, or are employed in a job that deals with the safety of the public,  to be subject to random drug and alcohol testing. This policy does not included the Bogota police Dept. because those officers are  already subject to random drug and alcohol testing as a condition of being hired as a Police Officer.
All items on the consent agenda were also passed.
