Some events scheduled to take place in and around Bogota, for the week starting on Sunday-26-May. Times and dates may change due weather or other circumstances. Please contact the event for the most up to date information.  More events will be added when they become available.

Continuing 
  Starting on Sunday-1 July-2018 the Borough of Bogota will change the ordnance in what can be recycled. Bottle & cans recycling pick-up the Borough of Bogota will now be limited to: Aluminium, Glass, Bi-metal/Tin cans. Aluminium foils and pie plates will be accepted but must be clean. Plastic Containers with the symbol  1, 2, or 5  only  will also be accepted.   All recyclable material must be placed in  reusable trash receptacles.  Items places in plastic bag will not be collected. Paper and cardboard recycling remains unchanged.
   The  collectible the products that have been removed from the accepted list will now be accepted by The Borough of Bogota in cooperation with the Ridgefield Park  environmental commission and collected in a separate way. The Trex Corporation has provided bins to accept the following item. Grocery bags, bread bags, case overwrapping, dry cleaning bags, newspaper sleeves, ice bags, wood pellet bags, zip lock & other re-seal able bags, produce bags, bubble wrap, salt bags, and cereal bags. All  recyclable materials must be clean, dry and free of food residue. For every 500 pounds of plastic collected the Trex Corporation will donate a new park bench, made from recycled materials. The benches will be donated to both Bogota and Ridgfield Park on a rotating basis. As of now a Trex collection bin is in the lobby of the Bogota Borough Hall and  the Bogota Public Library can be accessed  during  regular business hours. More bins are planned for other locations in the future.
  The collection day under the new rules will be Thursday-5-July (due to the Fourth of July Holiday) Then every other Wednesday.

Memorial Day Weekend 24-27-May
Bogota


   This is Memorial Day weekend several closing have been announced. 
   - The Bogota Public Library will be closed on Saturday- 25-May -Monday- 27-May. They will reopen on Tuesday 29-May with regular Business hours.
 - The Schools of the Bogota Public School  system will be closed  for a half day on Friday-25-May & closed Monday- 27-May.  Regular session will resume on Tuesday 29-May. 
  - St. Joseph's School will be closed  on  Friday-25-May  & Monday- 27-May..  Regular session will resume on Tuesday 29-May. 
  - Trinity Lutheran School  will be closed starting  early on Friday-25-May & Monday- 27-May. Regular session will resume on Tuesday-29-May. 
 - Bogart School will be closed on Monday -27-May,
 - There will be no lawn waste collection on Monday- 27-May

 - Borough Hall offices will be closed on Monday- 27-May



Monday-27-May

   The Bogota VFW Ralph Hall post #5561, and the Bogota American Legion Clifford Dunn Post #117 has announced the schedule for their Memorial  Day celebrations for 2016. This year Memorial Day will be on Monday -27-May.  The Bogota VFW, American Legion and the Borough of Bogota will hold their Memorial Day Service starting at 11:00a. This will take place in front of Borough Hall located at 375 Larch Ave Bogota, NJ. This event is free and opened to the Public.  The Bogota Memorial Day Parade will start at Palisades Ave & Cedar St in Bogota. This will kick off at 2:00p The Parade will travel North on Palisade to E. Main St. It will turn left onto E. Main St and cross over the  1st Lt. Albert Graf Bridge to Elm Ave. It will make a right turn onto Elm ave and travel north to W. Grove St. It will turn Left onto W. Grove to Larch Ave. It will turn Left onto Larch Ave and travel South to Bogota Borough Hall  and will end after passing by the reviewing stand.
  In preparation for this Memorial Day the Bogota Dept. of Public Works has placed new American flags on the streetlight poles from E. Ft. Lee rd at Palisades Ave  along the parade route to W. Main St and Larch Ave. There are also  new flags hanging in front of Bogota Borough Hall on Larch Ave.
    During the parade the Bogota Girl Scouts will be collecting food items for the St. Joseph's Food bank.  Items such as  canned goods, cereals, pasta, boxes  of potatoes, rice & stuffing can be placed in the wagons that the Girls Scouts will be pulling as they march in the parade.
   Also on that same Monday the Volunteer members of the Bogota Emergency Services Dept. will have their annual inspection. The members, with their equipment, of  The Bogota Fire Dept. and Rescue Squad, will line in front of Borough Hall starting at 9:00a. They will then fall in to be reviewed by the Elected officials of Bogota Government. This will included Mayor Chris Kelemen and members of the Borough Council.
After the inspection the Bogota Volunteer Fire Dept. will hold their remembrance ceremony starting at 10:00a at the memorial service  in Borough Hall Park.

  All these events are open to the public to view. The Bogota VFW will then host an indoor picnic of Hot-dogs and soda in the lower hall Ralph Hall, after the Parade. The post is  located at  241 West. Shore Ave. Bogota, NJ

   The Bogota Public Library will have the following program:  Makers Lab for Students 4:00p -5:00p, This is a free event, but anyone attending is asked to register with the library in advance.   To register for this event, or for more information please  about this and other Library events visit their website at :  http://www.bogotapubliclibrary.org/

The Planning Board meeting scheduled to start at 7:30p This will be held in the Council Chamber located on the second floor of 375 Larch Ave Bogota, NJ. The public is invited to attend.

The Bogota  Public Library will have  story time reading  starting at 10:30a. This is open available to any Student wishing to join in.  This will be held  under the tree in the Nikki Spiegel Story Time Corner. Esto será presentado por Jon Ortiz de Cross County hipotecas. Este programa se presentará en español. El Sr. Ortiz va a hablar sobre las opciones de pago anticipado y 
ofrecer consejos sobre cómo asegurar un préstamo.

The Bogota  Public Library will host a lecture about the experience of flying in an bomber during World War II. This will be presented by  Joe DeLuccia who severed as an Radio Operator and Gunner on a B-17 " Flying Fortress' bomber from June to October 1944.  This is schedule to start 11:00a. This is a free event and open to anyone. For more information please  about this and other Library events visit their website at :  http://www.bogotapubliclibrary.org/

Saturday-1-June

  The Bogota Recreation Commission and the Borough of Bogota will present Bogota Day 2019. This will be held in Olsen Park, Bogota , NJ starting at 4:30p. This is a celebration of Bogota 125th Anniversary. Some of the activities planned are Rides and a Petting Zoo, Live Music, and a Historic Bus  Tour of Bogota. Snacks including  Hot dogs, Popcorn, Cotton Candy , and Ice Cream will be compliments of the Recreation Commission. To end the evening their will be a first of its kind Bogota Fireworks display.  The Fireworks are scheduled to start at 9:00p weather permitting.
 It is asked that anyone attend come dress in Purple and Gold to show pride for Bogota, NJ
Admission is free.

  The  North Jersey Friendship House  will be hosting their Annual Wellness Walk for Mental Health &  Autism.  This will take place in Olsen Park Bogota, NJ. This is chance to raise money and awareness of mental health issues while enjoying an early afternoon outdoors. There will be a walk-a-thon around Olsen Park with donations going to help Friendship House with their work.  Music, A cook-out, Raffles and a Zumba class are planed for the event. There is a $5.00 donation requested
