Weekend Events

Some events scheduled to take place in and around Bogota, for the weekend starting on Thursday-16-May. Times and dates may change due weather or other circumstances. Please contact the event for the most up to date information.  More events will be added when they become available.

For Memorial Day
   The Bogota American Legion Post # 117 is looking for Veterans, or Active duty members of the Armed Services to  join in with the Veterans of Bogota for their annual Memorial Day Ceremonies. This includes the Bogota Memorial Day Service starting at 11:00a. This will take place in front of Borough Hall located at 375 Larch Ave Bogota, NJ., in honoring and paying tribute to our veterans present and fallen.
  They are also looking for  any veterans and their families to march alongside of us on Memorial Day  Monday-27-May-2019 at  starting at 200:pm.
Anyone who is interested in  participating  is asked an informational meeting  is to be held on Friday-24-May at the Bogota VFW Post #5561, starting  7:00p. Continuing 
  Starting on Sunday-1 July-2018 the Borough of Bogota will change the ordnance in what can be recycled. Bottle & cans recycling pick-up the Borough of Bogota will now be limited to: Aluminium, Glass, Bi-metal/Tin cans. Aluminium foils and pie plates will be accepted but must be clean. Plastic Containers with the symbol  1, 2, or 5  only  will also be accepted.   All recyclable material must be placed in  reusable trash receptacles.  Items places in plastic bag will not be collected. Paper and cardboard recycling remains unchanged.
   The  collectible the products that have been removed from the accepted list will now be accepted by The Borough of Bogota in cooperation with the Ridgefield Park  environmental commission and collected in a separate way. The Trex Corporation has provided bins to accept the following item. Grocery bags, bread bags, case overwrapping, dry cleaning bags, newspaper sleeves, ice bags, wood pellet bags, zip lock & other re-seal able bags, produce bags, bubble wrap, salt bags, and cereal bags. All  recyclable materials must be clean, dry and free of food residue. For every 500 pounds of plastic collected the Trex Corporation will donate a new park bench, made from recycled materials. The benches will be donated to both Bogota and Ridgfield Park on a rotating basis. As of now a Trex collection bin is in the lobby of the Bogota Borough Hall and  the Bogota Public Library can be accessed  during  regular business hours. More bins are planned for other locations in the future.
  The collection day under the new rules will be Thursday-5-July (due to the Fourth of July Holiday) Then every other Wednesday.

The Bogota  Public Library will have  story time reading  starting at 10:30a. . This is open available to any Student wishing to join in.  This will be held  under the tree in the Nikki Spiegel Story Time Corner.     The Bogota High School Fine Arts Dept will present this years Drama Club play. The production is title "Snow White and the Seven Fairy Godmothers".  The story is based on the Grimm fairy tale, but with seven well know Fairy Godmothers coming to the aid Snow White. There will be two performances of this production. Opening Night will be on Thursday-16- May with a curtain time of 7:00p. Before this performance the doors will open at 6:15p in order  to have a meet and greet with the cast members. There will also be a Saturday matinee starting at 3:30p
  Tickets for both shows are priced at $5.00 per person and are available at the door. The performance will be held in the Bogota High School Auditorium located at 2 Henry Luthin Pl Bogota, NJ.

The Bogota Borough Council will be holding their regular Council meeting  and work session starting at 7:30p.  The this meeting there will the official start of the  Borough of Bogota's 125th Anniversary celebration This will be held in the Senior Centre located on the second floor  of 375 Larch Ave. Bogota NJ   This meeting is open to the public.

The  Emergency Service Youth Academy  will be holding a fundraiser benefit for Class 08. This will be at the Bogota VFW lower Hall located at 241 West Shore Ave Bogota, NJ.  This will feature a Buffet dinner including refreshments. Staff and officials from the Bogota Police Emergency Service Youth Academy will be on hand to talk to Graduate Cadets, and will be available to answer any question Student , or Parents may have about class 08. The first 10 applicants to be accepted for Class 08 will be announced. Proceeds from this event will go to help fund  BPESYA Class 08 in August of 2019

   The Bogota  Public Library  host their Toddler play group. This is an opportunity for   young children and their Parents to play and relax in a safe area.  The Bogota Public  Library will have their Youth's Sewing Club meeting.  This is  open to  Students ages 9-18.  This will teach anyone the art of sewing. There will be a chance to learn machine, and hand sewing as well as shown different project and types of material. The next meeting  of the Bogota Test Kitchen will be held in the second floor of the Bogota Library. At this meeting members are to bring a recipe from this month book, and serve it to the other members as a potluck dinner. While over dinner members can discuss the book, why the chose their dish, and what was it like in the cooking process.   This is a free event and open to anyone over the age of 18 years old.  Anyone wishing to participate must register before hand, with the cookbook of the month available at the Library. The weekly " Meet the Mayor"  event will take place in the office of Mayor Chris Keleman This is open to any Bogota resident who would to ask the Mayor a question about  Bogota, or to discuss any matter to help improve the quality of life in the Borough. Anyone who wishes just to have an informal conversation with the Mayor is also welcome to attend. Meetings will be held on a first come basis. This will run from 5:00p to 7:00p in the Mayor's office. His office is on in Bogota Borough Hall located at 375 Larch Ave. Bogota, NJ.

Varsity Baseball -                vs Park Ridge 12:30 p at the Feigel Field Baseball Diamond. This will be the Senior Game
