Bogota Day 2019

 On Saturday-1-June the Bogota Recreation Commission and the Borough of Bogota hosted the Bogota Day 2019 celebration. This was held in Olsen Park as Part of the 125th Anniversary celebration of  Bogota. NJ.  The day started off with Councilwoman, and Chairperson of the Bogota 125th Anniversary committee, Kathy Ferris and Recreation Director Jim Moore welcoming every to Olsen Park.  This was followed by a performance of the Bogota High School Jazz Band.   There was also a performance  by Crystal Lake House Party near the end of the evening. Along with DJ Raul LeBron supplying music throughout the festivities.  Other activities included the opportunity to adopted a Pet from the Bergen County Animal Shelter.  A number of bounce houses, photos booth, and face painting  was provided by Bounce House Mania of Bogota. There was also a petting Zoo and train ride to enjoy during the afternoon. the Bogota Public Library also offered face painting, and some of the latest books available at the library.  
  Hotdogs, Popcorn, and Lemonade were compliments of the Bogota Recreation Commission. The  Bogota Lady  Bucs Volleyball team sold Hamburgers, Walking Tacos to help raise money for their program. Bogota Volunteer Rescue Squad 46 had pretzels available.  The Bogota 125th Anniversary committee gave away bags, pens, and light whistles to anyone entering the park.
  Other booth donated their profits to local groups. The selling of knitted item will go to benefit Bogota’s Emergency Service Youth Academy.  The chance to send someone into a dunk tank, including Mr. Moore, will go to aide the Bogota Recreation Commission.  Save The Animals Rescue Team II (START II) had stuffed animals to give away for a donation to their group. 
   A different ceremony that was held was the official unveiling of the Bogota Beautiful and the Northern New Jersey Community Foundation ( NNJCF)  and its ArtsBergen group to create  a fence weaving “ The Path of Us” installation along the Little League field in Olsen Park.  Bogota Mayor Chris Kelemen and NNJCF President Michael Shannon cut the ribbon to open the artwork to the public. This installation is schedule to stay in Olsen Park for a year. 
  The evening ended with, the first of its kind, Bogota Fireworks launched from Feigel Field. This is to be enjoyed by the resident of the Borough highlighting its 125th Anniversary.
