Fine Arts Award Dinner

  Wednesday-12-June The Bogota High School Fine Arts Dept held their annual awards dinner. Students who took participated in The Marching, Concert, and Jazz Bands. Concert and A Cappella Choir. Members of the Twirling and Colour Guard squads, along the Cast and Crews from both the Musical and Dramatic play were recognized for their work in the Fine Arts from the past School Year. Band Director, and Chair of the Arts Dept, Barry McCann said that about 80% of the Students attending Bogota High School take part in the Arts Programs in one form or another. Many of these Students participated in more than one Art discipline. 
   On display were the trophies and awards many for first place won by the Twirling Squad. Both the Concert and Jazz Band, and both the Concert and A Cappella Choirs in the past several months. 
   First Colour Guard,  & Twirlers Head Coach Leslie Baker presented  certificates and pins to her squad members. Some of the trophies won by Bogota Twirlers were the USTA NJ State Championship for Small twirl team and Senior Trio Team. Along first place for the NJTA Championships.
 Choir Director Ms Andrea Lynch handed out certificates to those choir members who sang in both the Winter and Spring Concerts. She also presented  the A Cappella Choir their own certificates.
  Then Band Director Mr. Barry McCann would recognize the members of both the Concert, Jazz, and Marching band.  Some Accomplishments of the marching were Excellent rating, and  a 2nd place finish along with Best Percussion Award at the Bloomfield Marching Band Invitational. They are also the only band participated in the North Jersey Marching Band Festival at Montclair State University for the 72nd consecutive year.  The Concert Band  would travel to Dorney Park for the Annual Competition there. They would receive a Rating of Excellent and 1st place in the High School Concert Band Division.  Concert Band  members would receive a certificate  while those also members of the marching Band were also be award a uniform pin. Later in the program Mr. McCann would acknowledge his Senior Band members and the High School Jazz Band. The Jazz band would also travel to Dorney Park  and receive a rating of Excellent and 1st place in the High School Jazz Ensemble Division. Mr.McCann then presented the 18 band members their Seniors  Trophy and thanked her for returning to Bogota to play in her Senior year of High School.
  Drama Director Ms. Sabina Albirt presented the Drama Club awards  for the Actors in both Fall Dramatic play and the Spring musical. This year those awards included members of the Glam Squad, Costuming and Stage Crew.  Then Ms. Albirt inducted five new members to the Bogota Chapter #6085 of the International Thespian Society.  Scarlet Ratliff, Taylor Cabana, Kaylin Torres, Cayla Nunez, and Aubrey Perez all were sworn in by Ms. Albirt
 Alondra Batista and Nicole Nunez were presented Lifetime achievement awards for their appearing in, or working on, all 12 major productions available during their six years of attending Bogota High School. Chris Grod was given a Shining Star trophy for appearing in 11 out of 12  Drama Club  productions. The Mr. McCann and Anthony Hardwick took a moment to honour Marlene Jaipersaud for her years of work support the Bogota Arts Dept. 
   The final presentation was that of announcing the Drum Major for the during the 2019-20 school year. 
Mr McCann announced that Aisling O’Hagan be the new Drum Major for the  Marching Buccaneer Band.
