Bogota Basketball

 20-January-2022
On Wednesday-19- January the Bogota Men's Basketball Bucs traveled to Saddle River Day School to play the Rebels.
Bogota would suffer a 66 to 47 loss. The Bucs Evan Meberg had a game high with 26, Points. Parker Neuenhaus had 18  Points leading the Rebels. Richard Machado for Saddle River Day School with Daniel Trinidad Vincent Ducut for Bogota all had game highs with 2 Three Point Baskets each.
Bogota's record is now  2-7. The next play on Friday-21-January when the host Hawthorne  Christian Academy. This will take played on the Jay Mahoney Court at Speary Gym, with the tip-off scheduled for 6:00p.
The Bogota Middle School Basketball Bucs opened their 2022 season against the Cliffside Park Red Raiders. This was played on the Bogota Middle School gym and mark the first true home game for the Middle School teams.
The Lady Bucs played first, The would suffer a  37-20 loss. The Boys Basketball Bucs were up next. The new home venue showed it differences at the start of the game.  The gym itself is a small tighter playing area. This cause concern when looking to keep the ball in play close to the out of bound lines, with the wall only feet away. Another problem is the lower ceiling in the gym.  This was made evident on the first few  attempts at taking a Three Point Basket. The arc of the ball found its way to hit, or just grace, the roof. This was ruled as out of bounds and cause a turn over.
By the final quater the players adjusted their shooting and attempts from beyond the arc were finding the bottom of the net. This allowed the Bucs to keep the game close. However Cliffside Park also adjusted enough to win the game 50-45.
The Middle School teams next play on Friday-21-January when they host Leonia. This will be played at the Middle School Gym. The Lady Bucs game will start at 4:15p With the Boys game to follow.
