Lady Bucs Volleyball

   On Wednesday-25-October the Bogota Lady Bucs Volleyball team hosted the Lady Defenders of Hawthorne Christian Academy. This was Bogota's seventh match in 10 days including a Quarterfinal loss to Immaculate Heart Academy 2-0 (25-16: 25-12) in the Bergen County Tournament less than 24 hours before.  Anna Granquist started Bogota to an early lead, until a number of unforced errors allowed Hawthorne Christian earn some points. Serving by Julianne Corniel and then Alexa Siri gave Bogota the focus needed to win the first set. The second set started with the Lady Defenders jump out to a three point lead. When Bogota regain the side out Anna Granquist serving allowed Bogota to take a small lead. Hawthorne Christian found a way to tie the game at 6-6. This time the Lady Bucs relied on serving points  by Kiara Polanco and Brianna Lozano to push Bogota on to a match win. Towards the end of the second set recent transfer Student Valeria Mateo was given some court time and responded with a few saves and hitting the winning volley of the match. Bogota would win 2-0 (25-12:25-12). Bogota's record is now 22-2. Anna Granquist would finish with12 Service Points including 4 Aces. Jaelyn Grullon, Brianna Lozano, and Nylene Mateo would have 6 Kills each. Alyssa Vazquez would score 18 Assists, with Lisbeth Suarez would have 12 Digs.
   Their next match will be on Tuesday 31-October. This will be in the first round of the 2017 NJSIAA Group 1 Tournament. Bogota enter the Tournament as the #2 seed and will play  #31 Arts of Newark in the first round.  This will take place at home in Speary Gym start time has yet to be announced.
