Board of Education

 On Tuesday-17-December the Bogota Board of Education held their meeting for the month of December. 
  In his report Superintendent Damian Kennedy main item was to inform the Board about the most recent Demographic  Study on the potential growth in the Student population.  This study was done to explore the impact of the River Club development on W. Ft. Lee rd. An earlier study protected about 70 new Students from 221 units could enter the Bogota  Public School System. The new study raises that number to over 90 new Students. When completed River Club is expected to have a total of 412 units.
  Superintendent Kennedy ended his comments by recognizing  two retiring trustees. One was Michael Connors who is leaving the Board after being Elected to the Bogota Borough Council.  Mr. Connors said he hopes to use his experience on the Board of Education so that the Council and the Board of Education can continue to work together to the benefit to the resident of the Borough. 
   The second Trustee recognized was long time Board Member Charlie Severino. Mr. Severino served as a trustee for over 25 years.  
    All the agenda items voted on were passed.  Some of them of note was the confirm Lady Bucs Basketball Head Coach Christina Minieri to the position full time. Also approved was the selection of Samantha Smith as Lady Bucs Basketball assistant Coach. Both positions became effective immediately. 
  It was announced that the reorganization of the Board of Education will take on Tuesday-7-January-2020.  This will have the swearing in of the three candidates elected  to the Board during the November Elections. The meeting will be held in the High School Cafeteria  located on the second floor of 2 Henry Luthin Pl.  Bogota, NJ. The meeting is scheduled to start at 7:00p. The Public is invited to attend. 
   The Board of Education will soon post the announcement for a new Trustee in order to fill the seat that will be vacated by Mr. Connors at the first of 2020.
