Bogota Sports

   Results from Bogota varsity Sports from the past weekend.
   The Bogota- Ridgefield Park Scarlet/Bucs  wrestling squad would compete on Saturday 21-December at the Garfield Tournament.  Three  Scarlet/Bucs  wrestlers would make it into the Semi-final bouts. Gabe Nunez at 132 lbs would lose the third place match to Aness Abdelrader from Elmwood Park, by Pin fall.  Adam Albino at 113 lbs would lose to Alex Vertedor of Passaic Tech in the finals  by Pinfall. Mr Albino would earn a second place finish. Andre Ruiz at 126 lbs would defeat Laith Handen of Passaic Tech by Pinfall and become the 126lb class Champion. 
   Bogota- Ridgefield Park would place seventh out the 13 team field.  They will next compete in the Bergen County Coaches Association Tournament on Friday and Saturday 27 & 28 December.  This will take place at Hackensack High School with the first bour scheduled to start at 10:00a
  The Bogota Lady Bucs Basketball team traveled to Wood-Ridge on Saturday-21-December to play the Lady Blue Devils. Bogota would lose 13-64 Maryann Gesmundo and Sarah Burrell would have a team high with 4 Points. Ruby Recio scored the lone three Point Basket for Bogota. Natalie Cala would have game highs of 22 Points including 4 Three Point Baskets for Wood-Ridge. Bogota's record is now 1-1. They next play on Friday & Saturday 27 & 28 December  at Weehawken in the Indian Holiday Classic.
   Ther Men's Basketball Bucs host the Dover Tiger on the Jay Mahoney Court in Speary Gym on Monday-23-December.  Bogota would come out of the first 8 minutes leading by one basket 16-14. By halftime the Tigers would cut that lead in have with Bogota holding a 26-25  advantage.  After the restart Bogota would twice as many points than their guest and extended their lead to 41-32 at the three-quater time mark. The final quarter would be event  and Bogota would earn a 53-44 home win.  The Bucs record is now 2-0.  Evan Meberg led Bogota with 19- Points.  Will Fritch would finish with a game high of 20 Points for the Tigers.  Taj Collins for the Bucs, and  Adriel Chaparro for Dover would both record 3 Three Points Baskets.
   Bogota will next play on Thursday-26-December in the Garfield Holiday Tournament at Garfield High School. They are scheduled to play Garfield in an Opening round game, with the tip-off at 7:30p.
