Weekend Sports

 A recap from the weekend of games played by Bogota Varsity teams over the past weekend. The Bogota-Ridgefield Park Scarlet/Bucs  wrestling squad would compete
in the Bergen County Coaches Association Tournament at Hackensack High School.  Andre Ruiz at 126 lbs would be the only Scarlet/Bucs wrestler to move beyond the quarterfinal  round.  In the semifinals Mr. Ruiz would lose to Logan  Mazzeo of Emerson- Park Ridge by a 1-3 decision.  In the third place bout Andre Ruiz would defeat Joseph Cappello from Paramus Catholic by Technical Fall 22-6. Bogota-Ridgefield Park  placed 29th out of the 40 schools competing.  They next compete on Friday-3-January-2020 at Clifton. The first bout is scheduled for 5:30p.

   On Saturday the Bogota lady Bucs basketball team would play in the consolation game at the Indian Holiday Classic in Weehawken, NJ. They would play the Lady Redwings from Hoboken, NJ. Bogota would lose the game 22-36. Kaylin Torres would led the Lady Bucs with 10 Points. Amber Eason would have the lone Three point basket for Bogota. Hoboken's Zoe  Mattessich would be high scorer with 17 points. Mikayla Maxwell, Melanie Molina and Bianca Santos would each have a single  Three point basket for the Lady Redwings. Bogota's record is now 1-3, They next play on Friday-3-January-2020 at Park Ridge. The tip-off is scheduled for 4:00p.

  The Men's Basketball Bucs would play on Sunday-29- December in the third place game of the Garfield holiday Tournament. They would face the Westwood Cardinals. Bogota started the game off fast by outscoring the Cardinals by ten in the first quater.  The Bucs maintain their lead into halftime  at 33-20. After the restart Bogota would continue to hold their advantage and win the game 64-45.  Bogota's Taj Collins would lead all scores with 17 Points. Westwood's  C Roche led his team with 16 Points. Mr. Collins would also have a game high with 5 Three point baskets. Mr. Roche had 3 Three point baskets for the Cardinals.  Bogota's record is now  4-1. They next play on Friday-3-January-2020 against Park Ridge.  This will be on the Jay Mahnoney Court at Speary Gym, the tip-off is scheduled for 7:00p.
