Tree Lighting

7-December-2019
On Friday-6-December the Borough of Bogota held their annual Tree Lighting ceremony in front of Borough Hall. This was a block party on Larch Ave were  Families and friends gathered to celebrate the Holidays together. There was a trackless train, donated by Bounce Party Mania Music, which offered trips along Larch Ave. Music was donated by DJ Eddie Acosta to keep up the festive spirit.  Cookies, homemade cupcakes and Hot Chocolate that was made by Jim Moore and Councilwoman Carpenter, were available for a quick snack. Mrs. Claus, with assist by her friend Elfina, handed out raffle tickets to the younger attendees, which could win them a prize from Santa.   There was also a life size snow globe for children to explore. The globe had a few technical difficulties, but was still enjoyed by those would bounce inside of it.
Then, with the blare of lights and the sound of siren, the Bogota Volunteer Fire Dept  arrived, from the North, with a special guess riding on the back of the Hook and Ladder truck. The caravan stopped in front of Borough Hall and Santa Clause climbed down to first meet Mrs. Claus, then said hello to all the Children gathered.  He made his way to the reviewing stand and lead the countdown to light the Tree in front of the building.  Then he awarded the prizes to the winners of the raffle. Santa then took some time to meet as many children as he could and listened to what they want for Christmas.
Then Santa wave a big goodbye to everyone wishing them a Happy Holidays.
On Sunday-22-December Santa Claus,  with help from the Bogota Volunteer Fire Dept, will again travel though Bogota  to see all the good children and pass out lollipops. This will start in the afternoon and he hopes as many Families will come out a wave to him. Also on  Sunday-22-December there will be  the first official Menorah lighting in Bogota. This will take place in front of Borough Hall and is scheduled for at 6:00p.
