Ridgefield Park Basketball

On Wednesday-16-February the Ridgfield Park Men's Basketball Scarlets hosted the Mahwah Thunderbirds  on the Dr. John C Richardson Court. The Scarlets would take an early lead behind a trio of Three Points Baskets in the first quarter. By the end of the first quarter Ridgfield Park would have a 17-8 lead. The Three Point  barrage  continued in the second quarter as both teams would score from beyond the arc. At half time  the Scarlets would hold a 30-19.  After the restart Mahwah's offense would find the target on a more regular basis, and cut into the lead. At the Three Quarter time mark  Ridgefield Park only lead by Five Points.      The final quater saw the Thunderbirds resume their chipping  away at the home teams advantage.  With under a minute and a quater left only two points separated the teams.  As the one minute mark passed Mahwah would tie the score at 46 apiece. 15 seconds later Ridgefield  Park converted  two free throws and go back up on top 48-46.  At the 11 second mark the score was tied again at 48-48.  The Scarlets would quickly go back down the court and force one more basket to have a 50-48 lead. Time was added and gave the Thunderbirds a final possession with three seconds on the clock.  One last shot was able to be take, outside the arc, but fell short as time expired.  Ridgefield park was able to hold on for a 50-48 win. 
The Scarlets record is now 5-3. Romel Camilo for Ridgefield Park, and Mahwah's Nick Peltekian both would finish the game having a high of 17 Points apiece. The Scarlets Jenci Reyes, and Jose Muniz, along with Thunderbirds  JT Kehoe record highs with 2 Three Point baskets.
  The scheduled sports for the next few days have been postponed due to the weather conditions.
