Lady Bucs Basketball

   On Thursday-5-March the Bogota Lady Bucs basketball team traveled to Ridgefield Park to play the Lady Scarlets on the Dr. John C Richardson Court . The home team would score first, then Bogota was able to double that mark and have a 4-2 lead.  After that the Lady Scarlets would go on to score the next twelve points in a row. Ridgefield Park would have an 16- 8 lead by the end of the first quarter.  The second quarter saw Ridgefield Park take advantage of the Senior trio of Mia Martinez, Jade Martinez, and Jasime Martinez to find open space in the Bogota defense. The Lady Scarlets also used their speed to expand their lead to 36-19 at halftime.

  After the restart  Bogota would adapted their game to give them more scoring chances.  The Lady Bucs would be able to orchestrate a few scoring runs during the second half.  These were answered by Ridgefield Park who would go on to win the game by the score of 66-45.

   Bogota's Kylie Cabana had a team high with 21 Points. Mary Gesmundo record 2 Three Points Baskets for the Lady Bucs. The Lady Scarlets' Mia Martinez had a game high with 24 Points. Jade Martinez made 5 Three point Baskets for Ridgefield Park. The Lady Scarlets record is now 5-4. Ridgefield Park next plays at Park Ridge on Saturday-6-March. The start time is scheduled for 10:00a with the Junior Varsity game to follow. 

   This was to be the final game for the Lady Bucs for 2021. A game against Dwight-Englewood on Friday was canceled.  Bogota finished with a 7-4 record and place second in the Division 3  behind Dwight Englewood.  This would be the first winning season for the Lady Bucs since 2012.  Kylie Cabana would be the teams leading scorer with 279 Points. This gave her a 25.4 Points per game Average. Maryann Gesmundo made a team high 10 Three Point Baskets. Makayla Douglas recorded 125 Rebounds with 12 Block Shots to lead Bogota.
