Rabies Clinic

22-March-2020

On Saturday-20-March the residents of Bogota were given a chance to have their Cats, or Dogs get their yearly shots for rabies. It was held at the W. Broad St. Firehouse, with a shield installed at the sign-in table.  This was in-order to protect both the staff and the pet owners from the spread of any viruses.  Another safety precaution was to have anyone who wish to bring in their pet make an appointed, and be scheduled a time slot.  This not only worked to allow everyone to maintain a safe distance. But it also kept down the chances for the pet to over re-act to unfamiliar animals  There about 35 scheduled appointment made and only a few needed to wait a moment on W.Board St. for their turn. The pets, mostly Dogs, did take advantage of the more open space to play with their owners.
The vaccinations were administered under the supervision of Veterinarian Dr. Jay Buchholz of the Maywood Veterinary Clinic. Dr. Buchholz had his table placed just inside the entrance to the Fire House. The shots were administered free of charge for residents of the Borough who had paid for a license. Pet owners either paid this day, or could have paid in advance with proof of purchase at the time of vaccination.  The majority of the pets were dogs, with a few cats also being vaccinated. Dr. Buchholz also gave some simple advice to some of the pet owners who asked question of the best way to treat minor issues with their pets.
